ABOUT MARK CONACHER

Experience that comes from doing the work.

I have spent more than 40 years in the trades and over 30 years in KBB. I started on the tools and built a career around the people, projects and businesses behind a finished room.

I founded and grew my kitchen and bathroom installation business from a one-man operation into a nationally recognised, multi-team installation business. Even after moving to Vancouver, BC, I ran the company from Canada for the next fifteen years. That experience has shaped how I see the industry. Good work is not just about technical ability. It comes down to people, planning, trust and how a business is run.

WHAT I DO NOW

Helping the industry talk about the things that matter.

Today I write, speak and work across KBB, installation and the skilled trades. I am founder of KBB Momentum and a Strategic Advisor to the British Institute of Fitted Interiors Specialists, BIFIS.

I have chaired and contributed to conversations at InstallerSHOW in the UK and New York. The subjects are the ones that sit behind better projects and stronger businesses: installation, skills, apprenticeships, standards, customer experience and the people who make the work happen.

My writing has appeared in kbbreview, Kitchens & Bathrooms News, KBBFocus and Kitchen & Bath Business Magazine, to name a few. You can find articles, conversations and media work on the Writing & Media page.

RECOGNITION

Credibility earned along the way.

I am proud to have been recognised through the Great British Entrepreneur Awards and as a Person of the Year, Praiseworthy Pick by the NKBA’s magazine. The business I built was also recognised twice as Installation Company of the Year, alongside awards including Scotland’s Best All-Trade Company and Best Home Improvement Company.

They are not the point of the work, but they do reflect a good team, high standards and years spent learning what it takes to build a business properly.

BEYOND WORK

There is more to a career than business.

I am co-author of the NAIPC book, Aging in Place Conversations: The Caregiver’s Edition, a number-one Amazon bestseller. I also give time as a peer-support volunteer with Saddle Up, an organisation I am proud to be associated with.
